Teaching my first class

Last month I taught my first beginner's class. Six strangers, six wheels, and far more mud than I planned for. What surprised me was how quickly people relaxed once I said out loud that their first pots would collapse. Giving permission to fail made them braver. Next time I'll keep the group to four and I'll start with pinch pots before the wheel. If you teach, try saying the hard part first.
